The reason why assistive technologies are important is because some of our students won't understand things right away & be able to comprehend what we teach them right away. Which will not only be bad for the student but also bad for us, if they can't understand what we're teaching them, then we're not doing a good job.
Video resources are an important concept for people who want to be teachers because if a student doesn't know the answer to a question we give them for homework they'll most likely go online to look for the answer. So, the best way to make sure they understand it without their need to immediately look it up like they've grown so accustomed to doing, is to give them a link to a video with their homework. Or at least, show a video at the start of a new section or topic.
And of course, student feedback is important because if the other two concepts aren't enough help for the student, then they will run the risk of failing the class or will cheat on a test because they didn't know the answers to questions that they were afraid to ask us. A student's feedback is necessary for us to know we aren't failing the student.
Robert - Great start on your blog! You identified three important points that relate to the concepts of educational technology. I think the video resources will be huge in the future since our students are so multimedia oriented and there is such an array of video resources on YouTube alone, but plenty of education-oriented sites as well. I also think that when students create their own videos, they become more engaged in learning and deepen their understanding of the topic.
ReplyDeleteFor future posts, I hope you can try adding a relevant and copyright-friendly image or an applicable video and/or hyperlinks to resources that deepen your understanding of the chapter concepts. Also, remember to add the textbook as a resource at the end of your post.
